Mesquite ISD aims to develop an inspiring and innovative learning community that educates and empowers students to pursue excellence. Mesquite ISD has more than 5,000 employees and more than 40,000 students. 100% of Mesquite’s 47 quality campuses met standard in 2016 and 70% earned distinctions. Mesquite ISD is serious about rewarding amazing teachers. They created the Excellence in Teaching Incentive Program (ETIP) in order to award stipends to master teachers — teachers who have completed an 18-hour district program designed to build teacher capacity and ensure student success. Teachers can apply to ETIP after just two years of employment with Mesquite ISD and after completing the 18-hour program, teachers receive an annual stipend of $5,000. Additionally, Mesquite ISD fosters effective mentor relationships. Effective teaching is a team effort, and the best teachers have mentors with whom they can lean on, share ideas, and problem-solve. Every new teacher in Mesquite ISD is matched with a qualified and trained mentor teacher.
